Fellow Bloggers – Just a Quick Question…

I just have to know: HOW are you able to post such hilarious, enlightening and informative stuff day after day, without fail? I’ve been indulging in reading, like, a Library of Congress-ful of blogs lately. So much good stuff out there. What I can’t get over is how all you creative, smart and funny bloggers find the time and energy to do what you do.

All I have time to do each day is go to a job that I tolerate, check out other blogs, perform some minor self-maintenance such as eating and showering, and then get 5 hours of sleep. That’s my routine lately. Oh yeah, and when I remember, I put up a post.

I am convinced that all of you are independently wealthy. I envision that you’re all sailing around on the deck of your yachts, speaking with faux British accents, and luxuriously blogging away the day. How else could it be that many of you have multiple sites? You guys are like the Octuplet-Birthing Mother of Blogs. Here, I’m barely able to push out one preemie blogette, totally exhausted and dabbing at my sweaty forehead every time I post.

AND, I really can’t figure this one out: sometimes, I’m already looking at your post-of-the-day and then I’ll go outside really quick to grab the mail. When I come back to my laptop – Voila! another new post appears. (It’s just like when you’re on a cruise; you crawl out of bed, go use the bathroom, and when you return 2 minutes later — the bed is made and there’s candy on your pillow.)

All I gotta say is – thank you for providing me with so much gratifying entertainment. I can now cancel Netflix, cable TV, and my cat. Keep up the great work. And anytime you want to cruise by and pick me up in your yacht, I’m over near the Channel Islands Harbor.

But seriously: How do you manage to post daily on your blogs without breaking a sweat?

Don’t worry, all bloggers have that problem of having consistent good daily posting in their blog. The only difference is that some have less or more of this problem.

IMHO, a daily blog post is not necessary. Some people who have very active daily lifestyle might be able to afford a new fresh daily posting, but for most of us, our days are full with boring and routine manners.

    Here’s my thought:
    - You don’t have to post daily, but you must have consistent posting pattern (ex: three posts per week), so you readers will always have reading contents regularly.
    - Search what’s hot on the net. You can go to http://www.google.com/trends or http://www.digg.com for this. If you are interested with a particular topic, write about it, but don’t just throw some stuff. If you are not interested with it, don’t write about it.
    - Subscribed to other blogs to find new ideas.
    - Small things matter, so don’t think what’s on your mind is too small to write about. As long as it adds benefits to your readers, write about it.

Hopefully I can help a little bit. I’m also struggling in this area, so all of the above apply for me as well :)

I often wonder the same thing myself. Both how others find the time and sometimes how I find the time (and/or energy) to keep the posts coming. Believe me, it is not without breaking a sweat (that’s for sure).

When I first started, it was just doing it for fun. Now, I feel an obligation to regular readers to keep it up. Sometimes it is still fun.

I really wish I could just do my blog full time (and still make a living doing it). It would be even more fun and probably even more entertaining. I would love that. But I don’t see that happenin’ anytime soon because I don’t see anybody paying me to do it and I sure am not independently wealthy.

No yacht here yet, sorry. Take care!

He is very funny on his blog: http://www.curtistucker.com. I usually have a hard time thinking of something to write a out. Think that is bloggok (bloggers block)????

Hi Steven – Thanks for the tips! It’s always a relief to know that others experience the same struggles. Everyone else just seems to breezily put up posts, whereas for me, it’s a time issue, as well as a huge effort in general.

Hi Old School – So it sounds like if you were able to blog full time, you’d totally enjoy it because you’d be able to FULLY COMMIT all your time, energy and creativity to it.

I’ve been looking around the blogosphere alot and, by far, yours is the best 80’s niche site yet. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Hi grannyann – I’m so jealous of your retirement! Many of my friends recently retired, but they don’t blog (so I imagine their lives are pretty dreary). :D

Yes, your son is very busy with all his sites and creative merchandise. You crack me up, grannyann. “Bloggok!”

Well, if you read my blog you know I don’t get to update as often as I would like. I have about a dozen blogs and 80 websites which I update on a rotating basis.

As far as being rich, unfortunately out of my fleet of online ventures, the blogs seem to earn the least amount of income. I do make good money with my online empire but have yet to buy the yacht, because there’s no room in the garage since we bought the airplane.

You are right about the energy level. The busier I am the less I feel like I can create a funny post.

I also started my blog for fun but now feel somewhat obligated to keep going. It is still fun. When it stops being fun, well…..I don’t even want to think about it.

I’ve seen several great bloggers over the past few months throw in the towel because of life getting in the way. It’s very sad.

Keep it up. Don’t post every day if you don’t feel like it.

Hi CoolStuff: I’m totally picturing you lounging in a smoking jacket and being fed truffles by the staff.

Hi Sneaker Wearing Entrepreneurial Cartoonist Internet Guy a.k.a. Curtis Tucker: I’m sure you can make room if you move the Lamborghini over a little bit.

Hi ReformingGeek: Oooh, I’d be so bummed if any of my favorite bloggers ever pulled the plug due to their time constraints, such as when they get too busy counting their gold bullions.
