There’s an Eddie Rabbit song that goes: “Ooooooh, I’m typing my life away, looking for a better way, for me…” What – screwed up the lyrics again? I’m sure that’s what Mr. Rabbit meant anyway when he wrote that song for me. (Giggling) I just referred to a well-respected singer as Mr. Rabbit.
Aaack! I’m a JERK – now that I just found out he died young at age 56. Okay, moving right along so as not to get depressed.

It was a gorgeous Sunday at Le Beach. Doesn’t everything sound more chic when you make it French? Aaack! I can’t stay on target today. Must fo-cuuuuusss.

Bottom line: I don’t want to go to work anymore. I know, it’s an obnoxious thing to say when so many people have lost their jobs. But you see, I think my keyboard is actually trying to tell me something. Have you ever noticed there are subliminal messages all over the keyboard? I totally see it.

When I go to work, I immediately want to and .
I’m for something else to do with my life. But is it?

I need to to what my heart’s telling me. I mean REALLY .
I try to tell Husband Jace all the time how I feel, but all I get is .
He just wants me to talking about it. But I have a good !

Isn’t there more to life than the daily grind ?
(Okay, “coffee” isn’t on the keyboard unless you spilled it.)

I want to have time to see the . Instead I find myself constantly looking out the and daydreaming. I just need a and stay for a while to be in of my life and my priorities.

I’m really feeling like I need a change of direction, but which way ? Well to figure it out. I guess I’ll have to go in tomorrow, sift through my , and any thoughts of resigning just yet.

As I go to tonight, I’ll say a few words of gratitude and tell myself not to . At some point in the next few years I can the nonsense of drone life. For now, goodnight .

In a word – That was brilliant! Nice work.

Actually, that was 5 words. And an exclamation point. But the emphasis is on “brilliant”.

You could always do what I did last week … take a few days off and quit. :) It feels amazing!

    Very funny!

When you work you don’t have time but you have money (hopefully). When you don’t work, you have time but no money. Such is life!

I know exactly how you feel about work. I have been with the same company for 13+ years and it has really worn me down. I feel it especially lately. I can’t stand it anymore.

I feel the same way about complaining about my job when so many have lost jobs and so many people probably have it worse. It is obviously not the best time to be making a change and I really don’t have the proper time to pursue a change either.

All I know is I need a change of scenery and I need it really REALLY badly.

Oh yeah, really enjoyed the computer symbol enhanced rant. Very nice.

Awesome! It reminded me of Highlights magazine. I don’t think that’s ever a bad thing.

Chris: Thanks! Maybe you can write my next evaluation. Please – don’t hesitate to use the word Genius. :D Can’t retire just yet. I have to hang in there a minimum of 3 yrs, 5 months, 2 days, and 5 hours.

ReformingGeek: You said it. It’s the ultimate dilemma. I want to have time to do things, but who’ll pay for all my fun and relaxation? Come on, is it too much to ask??

Old School: 13 years is a LONG time at one organization. I’ve been with the police department for half my life (aaargh!). Every now and then, I feel like I’ve hit the wall, but I keep soldiering on somehow.

If I win the lottery, I’m taking all 10 of my online friends with me to Bora Bora! :D

Shawn: Yeah, that’s kinda what I thought too when I finished. Loved Highlights, especially the hidden pictures. My HP keyboard has the moon (sleep) key near the top left. Jealous much?

I think the word was ” travelin’ “, not “typing”.. but I’ll have to look it up..

  • 7 grannyannNo Gravatar // Apr 6, 2009 at 11:27 am

I retired after 35 1/2 years with the Department of Defense, plus I had over a year of sick leave built up which added more to my retirement years. I get a GREAT retirement check each month. I LOVE being retired but you know my body fell apart after I retired!! Almost everyone I know retired and fell apart. Now isn’t that just lovely? I still love to get up and not have to go to work, I can wear sloppy sweats, no shoes, no makeup and do what I want (if its something the body lets me do.)

Joe: See, you have travelin’ on the mind. You’ve mentioned once in a comment that you did alot of it for awhile. Where was your favorite destination? (Say California!!)

Grannyann: I want to be you – RETIRED. I could dress like that! It’s my favorite outfit (sweats). 35+ yrs with DoD sounds like a darn good pension. But I’m taking an early retirement and looking for napping bliss. :D

I started looking for a secret message in all those symbols you had there like Russell Crowe from “A Beautiful Mind”. Marissa, just curious, how do you rank Russell vs. Jason?

CoolStuff: Great movie! Well, Russell was my guy as a Gladiator, but Jason will transport me in luxury vehicles, as opposed to chariots. When I finally quit my job, I don’t want to downgrade to wooden wheels.

PS – I snagged the Love Boat T-Shirt on your site. Sweet! Can’t wait to get it :D

I’ll put my question out: Back in the day, Farrah Fawcett or Barbara Eden??

  • 11 marissaNo Gravatar // Apr 6, 2009 at 8:36 pm

Also, if any secret messages were to be decoded from above, Grannyann, having worked DoD would’ve caught it for sure!

Keep me posted on the Love Boat T-Shirt, thanks!! Toss up on Farrah and Barbara. Good point on Grannyann.

    Marissa,

This was one of my favorite posts from you! I’ll never look at my keyboard the same way.

Yes, I too echo your sentiments. I am so thankful and appreciative of my job, but there are days I wake up and don’t feel like going to work. What keeps me hangin in there is the four day work week and the next to nill commute.

As for you Marissa, the good news is, as each day passes, you are that much closer to retirement!

Dani: Tanx! PS – Who knew your “Terrorist” blog post would create such a ruckus? Ha!

CD: Well, if I worked with You, we could be partners in crime, Thelma and Louise, and have a good ole time at the office. Wish you’d come downtown and hang out with me and the transients. :D
