Theme Song from the TV Show “Three’s Company”

For the last couple of generations, many kids grew up watching alot of TV. There were plenty of engaging shows. Back then, I used to want to live on the shows, either because of the house or the family members. For example, I totally wanted to be part of Family Ties, like as a neighbor. Of course it was because I had a huge crush on Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) and admired his financially-savvy ways.

And there was a show called “Family” with Kristy McNichol; they had this beautiful house in Pasadena in a gorgeous neighborhood. As a kid, I wished I had a friend like Kristy’s character so I could go to her spacious house and hang out.

Anyhoo, my favorite fantasy house was Jeannie’s bottle in I Dream of Jeannie. If I could, I’d replicate her bottle-home in one of my bedrooms, tacky as it sounds. Oh, and I definitely wanted to have a hut on Gilligan’s Island. Loved the hammock beds. I also wanted to live in the Three’s Company Santa Monica apartment and go to the Regal Beagle for drinks, even though I was under-age.

Was there ever a TV show where you wished you lived on the set? My Ultimate Wish was to live on Sesame Street. Forget about Disneyland, THIS would have been the happiest place on Earth for me. :D

For me it was either The Brady’s house or The Jetson’s. Or Charlie’s tree house on New Zoo Revue.

  • 2 JoeNo Gravatar // Apr 15, 2009 at 4:06 am

The Jetson’s home was great because all you had to do was push buttons and dinner was made, the living room got picked up, or step on a conveyer belt and get showered and changed in 10 seconds…

    What a fun post!

What comes to mind is shows that I DIDN’T want to be part of, like the Brady Bunch. Their house was incredibly inadequate for all those kiddos. Sharing a bathroom with boys? Um, no.

Then there’s Facts of Life. All the girls sharing one big room over the store with Blair’s hair products taking up the entire room? Um,no.

As an adult, I wanted to be Sydney Bristow!

I am not sure I have ever really thought of that one before. So I will do so right now and give you the first ideas that come to mind…

First, how about one I would NOT want to live on. “Land of the Lost” – dinosaurs walking around and those freaky Sleestack dudes.

Then, here is a couple that might be cool…
    1) Rich People – Like “Silver Spoons” mansion or “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”.

    2) Hot Women – Like the “Baywatch” beach

    3) Interesting Apartment Bldg – Like “Three’s Company” as you mentioned or “Seinfeld” in NY

    4) Hazzard County always seemed like fun from the “Dukes of Hazzard” as does “Sesame Street” as you mentioned.

I am sure I will think of tons more, but those were the first ones to fall out of my mind. Will stop back if I have the change and think of more.

One that came to mind that I would have liked as a kid was Fonzy’s apartment above the Cunnigham’s garage. You could still get your meals and stuff but have some privacy – “I found my thrill on blueberry hill.”

I would like to live in The Simpsons’ world. All kinds of zany things happening, you never get any older, and I think I would look good with yellow skin.

Joe: The New Zoo Revue was another place I wanted to live. I need a cleaning robot at home. Oh wait, I”M the cleaning robot.

ReformingGeek: I can picture you as Bristow. She kicks ass even in high heels (while speaking any foreign language). I loved every Alias episode.

Old School: Lol – Baywatch, where the bikini-clad women run in slow motion. So, I guess not so much The Golden Girls (or Maude) for you, eh?

Oh, I just remembered Frasier – LOVED his condo with the view of Seattle.

Jim: That song is forever linked to Happy Days and Richie. :D The only sad thing about Fonzie’s place was that one Christmas episode where he was all alone with that little present under the tiny tree.

Chris: The Simpsons – classic. I have the Simpsons Monopoly game.

Shawn: The jaundiced look can only be pulled off on that show, otherwise – get medical attention. :D

Alantru: Until Elmer Fudd and his shotgun comes around during Wabbit Season!

Good call on Frasier’s place overlooking Seattle!

How about stately Wayne Mansion and having the Bat Cave from the old Batman TV show?

The house that Charlie has in Two and a Half Men would be very sweet, too.

    More sure to come…

First of all, I always dreamed of entering Jeanies bottle, LOL. I loved Family Ties, Cheers was the place I would have liked to be, I loved Valeries Family(The Hogan Family), couldn’t get enough Gilligan, or Brady Bunch ( I was a Mary Ann fan on Gilligans Isle, not so much Ginger) I remember watching Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, Bewitched (Elizabeth Montgomery was hotter than Barbara Eden) Happy days, Laverne and Shirley! God I could go on forever. Blahblahblahblahblah!

Let’s ALL get Simpsonized! Go to Joe’s site at 70s-Child and check it out on his sidebar.

Old School: Keep ‘em coming. You all have a better memory than I do.

Otin: CHEERS! Definitely. Mary Ann, always the girl-next-door. All those shows you mentioned are still as funny today.

Sometimes I happen to see them on cable. I saw a couple of episodes of Get Smart the other night. I laughed so hard!

  • 16 marissaNo Gravatar // Apr 15, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Goggles: I hate to break it to you, but the only thing down there is the puppet-master for Oscar. I know – made me cry, too, when I found out.

  • 17 The Stabbing PenNo Gravatar // Apr 15, 2009 at 7:46 pm

I want to be on Cheers. I could never be as cool as Sam or even Woody, but would still be cooler and more likable than Cliff. My dream is to drink there, and get my balls busted by Carla.

Stabbing Pen: I can still hear Cliff’s voice telling some kind of trivia or another. Carla with all her kids. Lol. Everyone I know who saw the real Cheers bar told me they were shattered because it wasn’t the same inside.

Probably the same devastation I felt when I found out about Oscar the Grouch’s trash can. :( (tissue, anyone?)

Otin, good call on “Cheers” where everybody knows your name!

Also for the record, I would agree with you on Samantha from Bewitched (though Jeanie dressed much more provocatively), but I would have say I was more of a Ginger fan over Mary Ann (though being stuck on an island with either of them is not so bad).

I definitely wanted to be on Gilligan’s Island. Now I want a coconut pie.

Sorry, cat on keyboard. You got me thinking, but I don’t know yet.

Some places I wouldn’t like to live, though: Twin Peaks, South Fork, wherever Picket Fences was (pretty messed up place), The Twilight Zone (already there most days).

Bee: M*A*S*H was such a great show (even though the title is hard to type out). I started renting the DVDs starting from Season 1. I had a huge crush on McLean Stevenson.

Thanks for the FaceBook friendship!! :D

Unfinished Rambler: Cat clicked on “Submit”?? Cat must be pretty good with a mouse. Lol.

Twilight Zone – good one! Some of those episodes were way too creepy. Like the one where the toys were alive in that bin.

I wanted more than anything to live with Mork and Mindy, I had the suspenders. The one place I could never and would never live would be Sesame Streets. Muppets/Puppets made me so sick just to look at. I thought they were grimy and icky looking.

    Betty: The suspenders [chuckling].

Hey – those are my muppets you’re talking about! Lol. I saw on a bloopers show once where the puppeteers kept messing up their lines and they were actually making the muppets cuss. It was hilarious.

  • 27 bettyNo Gravatar // Apr 17, 2009 at 10:21 pm

You’re Jealous! You know it! You didn’t have the suspenders did you? I rocked those with a brown soft shirt with strips of … more brown and my pink elastic waist pants. The elastic kinda ruined the need for the suspenders. Oh well.

    Oh Fraggle Rock was worse!

Betty: I AM jealous. Make ya a deal – if you have a picture of you wearing those suspenders, I’ll put it on a separate blog page I’m working on, like a Blast from the Past theme with photos of WhaHappen’s readers.

And Fraggle Rock did creep me out. Never liked it.
