Queen – You’re My Best Friend

I just want to tell you how fun it is to visit your blogs. You make me spill my coffee when I spaz-giggle before setting my cup down. Sometimes I just choke and chortle or spit-laugh at my monitor.

Also, I feel like we have alot in common. I salute the playfulness in all of you. That said, I’m letting you know that I’ll still be visiting everyone while I take a half-hearted hiatus from blogging.

My cat Trixie convinced me this morning, while she laid luxuriously on the bed, that I have to get on with my other projects, by which I mean, sleeping — and “napping” when I’m not sleeping. It’s not that I’m narcoleptic, though I’ve been accused. I just wish my chosen art form was “hammock-tester” or sleep researcher.

So I’m still going to be around – you can’t shut me up that easily. I just don’t plan to post on a regular basis, until I can complete some of my other goals that I’ve set for myself this year. I actually have several entrepreneurial ideas I’m toying with and need to focus on. Most of them are not internet-based.

As I’ve mentioned, I’ll be frequenting your blogs and commenting as usual. Hey, you can’t get rid of me without an enforceable restraining order. :D

Meanwhile, feel free to comment on any of my past posts. I’ll always respond to all comments. And I truly enjoy hearing about YOU. By the way, I totally like it when you leave longer comments – because that’s what makes me feel like I actually know you. It’s also cool when you “talk” to each other here. I like that cocktail party atmosphere!

Also, be sure to check out the blogs on my sidebar. I’ll definitely be adding the rest of you who have been regularly commenting. But being the obsessive-compulsive categorizer that I am, I haven’t been able to put all you square-pegs into the right holes, so I have to get creative. But I’ll get you in there soon.

Anyway, til my next post (which might even be tomorrow) take care and keep playing. Don’t get old – I’ll be right back!

We’ll miss you! You make us laugh and spit too so thanks for all the good reading. My eyes and brain are appreciative :)

Have a good blogging nap and good luck with the entrepreneurial projects.

Hope they come off and you become a millionaire (you can help me pay my credit card if you like).

Come back soon even if just to let us know how you’re getting on.

We won’t miss you, because you are not going anywhere LMAO! Who are you kidding? There will probably be a new post before I finish this response! (Maybe just wishful thinking on my part!) You are always here in spirit!!!!

I agree with Otin “who are you kidding”? But really, we understand where you are coming from, and I certainly understand the entrepreneurial projects. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you on here still from time to time (probably this afternoon). I wasn’t expecting that from the video, that was a good find!

Oh no, just when I was getting to know you, you go and skip out on me. I know its because I didn’t get my childish attitude picture made. Please enjoy yourself and try not to feel all guilty that we are out here without you. Don’t worry about us not laughing as much or enjoying your comments as much. Guess we can suffer through life for awhile as you take a nap and get rich.
    Love ya

    Chris:
Yeah, I’ve been stretching myself too thin lately and have to re-calibrate. I like that – “blogging nap”! I should put up a sign on here: “Shhh…Blogger sleeping.”

    Otin:
You’ll find me on your chatroll! Now that’s a cocktail party scene. Maybe this weekend?

    Jim:
Just like Husband said when he walked by right now: I know you’re putting up a post!

Well, if he’s gonna DARE me, I just might! (The video cracked me up too.)

    Shawn:
I think there’s a bigger chance of me getting killed by a shark than becoming a gazillionaire. A bazillionaire, maybe. Wait – which one’s more?

    Old School:
I hope to post at least a couple of times a month. And I expect to be back on a regular posting schedule in September.

Your site’s awesome for satisfying my 80’s nostalgia! I recommended it to my eldest daughter’s fiance. He’s 24 and digs 80’s pop culture.

    ReformingGeek:
LOL – I know you sounded much better than Willie Nelson singing that song! Thanks and I’ll be seeing you. That GeekFish Mermaid is so cute – and looks like you!

    Winky Twinky:
Hahahah – “tournament napping”! I hold the title. I guess I never outgrew it as a baby. But at least I’m potty-trained.

    GrannyAnn:
Ha!! If only I can take naps AND get rich. It sounds like the perfect infomercial.

Basically, I had given up the time I’d use for napping in order to blog. Then I started getting black circles under my eyes (without looking as cute as a panda).

Then I realized 6 months had gone by and I wasn’t any closer to my other goals. So something had to give. Why does it have to be the thing that’s most fun! Waaahh! Adulthood sucks!

  • 10 alantruNo Gravatar // May 13, 2009 at 8:11 pm

I always wanted to be a mattress tester. Really! I hope you have all kinds of success in your future endeavors (listen to me getting all form letter and cozy). I will, of course, keep swinging by and hassling you. (In a form letter kind of a way – not!) I’ll miss your posts, for sure. I always enjoyed how you can pluck moments from your life and make them so funny. Good luck. Take your time. Hurry back. Wear a sweater and sensible shoes. And watch out for those sea monkeys. Those little guys will only break your heart.

Listen, I’ve been around a few blogs who are hiatusing too and what the hell? People have lives outside of blogging? ;o)

I too have so many projects to get done around my house. Usually every year, I’m the first one to plant my flowers and then have to cover them up when frickin mother nature decided to take a dump of snow in April but this year I’ve got a couple of sad looking petunias waiting on my back porch… did that sound nasty?

    Have fun! :o )

    Marissa,

WhaHappen? I hardly got to know ya! But in life there are priorities. Glad to see you can put things in perspective. I have really enjoyed your blog and imagination too. See ya on the other side of the summer. Much success to you and your family.

P.S. I think you should be honest and tell your daughter’s fiancé that the phrase “80’s culture” is an oxymoron. :)

    Enjoy,

    Rich

Hahah! Thank you for your efforts and contribution to my blog. It is my hope to continue to provide outstanding service — what the hell am I saying?! And the sea monkeys always die on me, just like the chia pets.

That Sneaker Wearing Entrepreneurial Cartoonist Internet Guy:
I set up a Twitter account back in November but never did anything with it — in true Slacker form. I’ll get back in the saddle and will play around with it!

    Bee:
I, too, have my garden to get back to. I’ve been telling all my flowers that I’ll save them from the invading weeds really soon. Some of them died before I could get to it — just to make me feel guilty, I’m sure.

    Rich:
Hey, you invoked “WhaHappen?!” perfectly! I think a break will do me good. I need to manage my other obligations and goals, so I don’t feel like I’m totally flaking out and just blogging my life away. Although, it’s an enticing thought….

Must balance adulthood responsibilities and goofing off. Ugh, it doesn’t even sound like a good thing. lol

Did it tell you about the sell at HEB? It’s our grocery store. They have these deals they call loco. Very loco. Say you buy barbacoa, you get like fifty eleven sides for free. Anyway I got a chicken, macaroni & cheese, bag of salad, and soda all for 6.99. Very cheap.

So… my shoes, yeah well I got them at Nordsroms shoes sale. Cute hut?!

Did I ever tell you that I hate cooking? I love baking I just hate cooking…

Oh I got a sunburn on my shoulders and I’m growing watermelon… not on my chest, in my back yard!

Otin peers out over the horizon, looking for signs of life. Whahappened he asked himself, while a tear welled up in his eye, this was a place that he used to come and see all the kids playing, but now there were only dusty memories of what once was. Hopefully Marissa will not forget about us, going away to the big city and leaving us to wallow in blogger mediocrity, oh woe is me, for I must now wander the zombie filled swamp of blogland without my greatest allie, oh now the child in me is gone and I must now become a man, excuse me while I go masturbate! The world is in ruins, what were once monuments to the ingenuity of mankind had been reduced to a smoldering heap of ash and debris. Otin sticks his head out of his shelter, hoping to once again hear the chirping birds or at least Marissa’s LOL’s, but finds only a grey sky, completely void of any life signs. Otin sighs, realizing that this is not a dream, but instead a nightmarish reality, made worse by the dissappearance of his longtime blogging sidekick. Otin starts walking, not knowing where life will take him, but he keeps glancing back, at the place where he had so many good times, hoping that someday it will be rebuilt. Until then he will be a man without a home, a lost ship on a God forsaken sea, a flea on a mangy dog, sweat on an athlete, pus on a zit, ham on rye lol!

Excerpt from Otins romance novel: She stood in the moonlight, her long dark hair cascading across her shoulders, her subtle breasts being covered by only the flimsy piece of fabric that was supposed to be a bikini top. The waves were pounding the beach in a rhythmic fashion, sounding like a soothing symphony on a starry night. I decided at that moment, that she was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen, a Goddess for no one elses eyes, but my own. I knew that I would have her on the beach that night, I grabbed my duct tape, ropes, and various dismembering devices, and I made my way toward what was surely going to be true love!

Otin screamed in pain as the razor sharp barbs tore at his flesh, ripping his skin like it was mere tissue paper. He wondered why Marissa had not come to save him? He was all alone standing on the precipice of hell, grasping the razor wire to keep from falling into the bowels of all that was evil. “Marissa”! , Otin Screamed out in agony, “please save, me! Don’t leave me in this blogging hell all alone”! There was no answer, and Otin’s bloody grip began to slip, but he no longer cared, he was already prepared to exist amongst the zombies and Goblins that ruled over Hades! Otin Let go and tumbled, bloody and bruised, into the jaws of the monster that he had himself created, and now he would have to wait until someone would save him. Otin, curled up in a fetal position, whimpering, hoping that some day Marissa would come back and find him, until then, he would walk the wastelands alone!
