My last post offered you a glimpse of how exceedingly well I can organize CDs, otherwise known as OCD. So for my next project, I’m tackling my downloaded music and trying to…do something with them.
Here’s the deal: I had downloaded a compilation of TV theme songs (from the 50’s through the 80’s), which were then burned onto a CD. But, since I never know when I might crave listening to “Diff’rent Strokes”, I wanted to transfer the entire Theme Song CD onto my other computers. R-okay, Raggy!
…100 files and 2 computers later, I happily pull up my music folder to hear one of my favorites: “Sanford and Son” and all I see is a listing of:
Track 1
Track 2
Track 3…and so on
Wha happen??!! Where were my song titles?! Some befuddling I.T. meltdown occurred in the transfer process and, ruh-roh! the ever-important titles didn’t take. I can’t forever refer to “Sanford and Son” (bump bump BUH dump!) as Track 74!
So, my friends, can you help a sistah out and listen to a few of these tracks and tell me (accurately, please) which TV shows they hail from? I was able to figure out all but 31 of them. The ones with no lyrics were the toughest to crack. They sound sooo familiar, but…!
And I didn’t feel like going back and forth trying to compare between the original burned CD and transferred files. Life should NOT be this hard, people!
If you can figure out any of the tunes, I’ll realllllly appreciate it if you note it in your comments. Thanks so much for sparing me the brain strain, as you know, I’m getting old. (…And this is the part where you say “No way, Marissa, you are way, totally young!”)

Hey, M, I still have an old portable blk and white TV like the one you have posted! It was a Christmas gift from Lorin in late 70’s early 80’s!

Awesome!
Norma – You and hubby did great! I would’ve never guessed “Big Valley”. I remember whenever it came on, I’d change the channel (by turning the knob of course). So I never heard the theme song all the way.
Rachel – Yay, The Newlywed Game! That show cracked me up. I’m impressed you got Perry Mason. I was stumped. Loved the MTM trivia!
Okay, I’m gonna change my files and see how many more I need. Thanks y’all!!
Paula – That TV set’s a classic. I had a hand-me-down one in my first apartment bedroom. I wish I still had it, just to trip out my kids. They like the idea of “dial” phones, but haven’t actually seen one either.

Hum….I listed to #2 and thought it was Dynasty. Then I listed to #6 and thought it Dynasty. Then I listed to #10 and thought it was Dynasty…..but it might be Dallas!
What a fun post. Good Luck!

ReformingGeek – I kept doing the same thing. It was hard for me with some of those shows because I rarely watched them.

I listened to the first 7 and did not get one! I think it is because of the new styling of the tunes. Some had a familiar ring to them but I was not sure. Actually, I was getting frustrated! lol

Otin -Yep, those tracks were the tougher ones. I’m so impressed with everyone though. I should’ve gotten #13 (Alice) because I did watch that show.
Constant Complainer – Thanks for the assist! And I plan to post once a week, which actually seems, uh… overwhelming. Lol
Darryll – The NEW Night Rider! I would’ve never guessed, since I wouldn’t recognize the old one. Thanks for that! BTW – I thoroughly enjoyed your book. Got it in late ‘08 (?) Thanks for the memories. It was a really fun read!
Oh – and on your blog, I loved the post about the SRA reading labs. Those were the best!

Hi,
Tried to help on a couple that no one weighed in on yet.
#7 is definitely Perfect Strangers (proud to know that)
I think #12 is Beverly Hills 90210 & #24 is Melrose Place (not proud that I know that)
I love TV Theme songs. I have about 150 of them on my iPod mostly from the 80s & late 70s of course. I did a post a while back on my favorites: http://oldschool.tblog.com/post/1969975331
Have a wonderful weekend.

GrannyAnn – At least you recognized some of them. I didn’t watch TV as much as I thought.
Old School – Melrose Place, eh? I liked your Theme Song post up there. So many songs to choose from. On my CD, I really like Love American Style and Green Acres.
