Animals are so lucky because they can just be themselves and automatically be awesome. Humans, however, have to work so hard to keep up appearances to look cool.
No matter how much we exercise, primp, surgerize, and ham it up, we can’t one-up the cuteness of a 50 lb. rabbit named Darius. By the way, according to his owner, Darius “is not fat. He’s just enormous.” Wouldn’t that be great if we could go around saying that about overweight people? Make ‘em feel better.

Speaking of unusual size, next up is a 100 lb. rodent aptly named Caplin Rous (a nod to the movie The Princess Bride). Caplin lives near Austin, Texas, and there’s actually a breeder that can hook you up with these guinea pig-like creatures. The official name for these real-life Zhu Zhu pets is “capybara.” But if you see one in person, you’d just call it a big-ass mouse.
The winning animal on my Cute List and also in the Funny Name category is the Blue Footed Booby.

This little guy is just rockin’ those blue shoes! So damn adorable (and fashionable).
But a close runner-up is the Okapi. Mr. Zebra called and he wants his pants back.
We can really learn alot from animals, such as relaxing, accepting our own quirkiness (and those of others) and just being ourselves.
Which animals do you think look cool, act cool, or are just funky in general?

I love those blue shoes!
I’ll go with a panda but I can’t leave out the male gorilla that just sits around looking all ugly and in charge.

You gotta wonder sometimes if God’s up there laughing it up and saying “Look at THAT one – that’ll make wonder whats going on!” when He throws us animals like the blue-footed booby or the Okapi.
And – I think that I’ll keep the over-sized rodents and hares out of my house, thank you! They just belong in funny dreams I sometimes endure after a crazy night of binge drinking Mountain Dew with pizza…

ReformingGeek: I love the visual of that gorilla in charge. I’d like to have one as my personal bodyguard.
Darryll: God has a whimsical sense of humor alright. I mean, come on, animals with pockets? If anyone needs kangaroo-style pockets it’s humans with all our gadgetry.
And in my nightmares, those giant rodents are wearing Nazi uniforms.
GrannyAnn: I couldn’t believe it either, so I added the link to the Animal Planet video of Caplin.

Stabbing Pen: Thanks – that mutant cat deserves an honorary spot right here:
WAIT – what if that cat finds out about that mouse up there?

Otin: Grizzly bears are way cool-looking. Except right before they eat you! You know that my biggest fear is being eaten alive by some animal! So, by order of the management, please don’t say “grizzly bear” on this site.
Other words banned here at WhaHappen are: shark, giant spiders, probably octopus should be listed too. Thank you for your cooperation.

Nature is quite amazing. We were just at the zoo the other day commenting on how strange & amazing the evolution of certain animals are.
The genetic mutations I am not as impressed with personally. Like in the South Park episode when they try to get a Pot Belly Pig & Elephant together to create a little Pot Belly Elephant. As Chef sang, “pig and elephant DNA just don’t match”. Sorry for that tangent…

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of hybrids. I’m pretty sure that camels are part horse and part quasi-modo.

Whoa, that’s one heck of a big-ass mouse! :O
I would have to say a tarsier would be a cool animal, I mean such a little guy has HUGE eyes! In a way, they look like they were born with huge nerdy glasses.

Between photoshop, Peter Jackson, and scientists creating artificial life in a bottle, I never know what’s real and what’s a spoof anymore. In general, any pets bigger than a small pony should be kept out the back.

I keep waiting for Jason Statham to be CGI’d as my husband in real life. Someday…
But I agree about those humongous pets. I’ll be doing a post soon on my daughter’s 6-foot 2-inch Great Dane/Mastiff puppy. His name, appropriately, is “Monster”.
